6002

I had some work at next to the Suzuki showroom today, so i dropped by to see if they had anything interesting.

They had the 09 600GSXR, it is pretty much the same as the 08 model which was the number one selling bike in the US, the bike has the Drive Mode Selector system which enables fuel injection mapping to be changed at the touch of a button, but it is lacking the ABS breaks the 09 Honda 600RR has.

They also had one 09 blackgold Busa which was not on display !!!

Looking at the empty water bottles carpeting the gulf road from Salmiya all the way to the Green island one can tell that NBK marathon was a success, but will NBK hold another marathon to clean this?

WSBK rookie Ben Spies also know as Mr.Elbows due to his riding style where his elbows frequently touch the ground when making sharp turns, is giving the god fathers of the WSBK a run for the pole positions.

Mr.Elbowz dominated the two WSBK qualifying sessions at Losail Circuit in Qatar, he lapped the 5.380 km circuit in 1 minute 57.280 seconds, Jakub Smrz on the 1098R came second, a fraction of a second behind Spies, and ahead of Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) in third. The race is taking place tomorrow, and am very anxious  to see if  the big boys will let rookies set foot on the podium.

An art exhibition is taking place today and thru March 14th at the Marina Hotel, five arab females will be displaying their work in celebration of the “wondrous multifaceted role played by women in the world today ” ….whatever that is.

I like the name they chose for the exhibition, if it wasn’t for that apple i would have been blogging from haven right now.

So if you are a feminist make sure you check them out -the art pieces, not the artistes.

A scientific study claims that riding motorcycles helps keep riders young by invigorating their brains, rider’s brain gets simulated when riding motorbikes because it requires heigh levels of alertness.

Experiments involving middle aged men -like me- concluded that in a convenient and easy environment, the human mind and body get used to setting the hurdle low, and riding motorcycles is the way to smart ageing!!!

I think riding in Kuwait can over stimulate the brain and could lead to early againg.

Meeting point was at Al Bedaa, from there around 70+ bikers cruised to the blood bank to donate blood..the staff of the blood bank were ready and the donation process was smooth and brisk,  they even had a nice breakfast buffet with set up which was really nice from them.

Why  bikers donate blood ?

They say there are two kinds of bikers, “Those who had an accident, and those who will” so we donate blood from time to because u never know when we might need some 😉

Oh and incase ur wondering am form the ones that had an accident – a couple actually –

losail

The first race of the 09 MotoGP race will take place on April 12 at Losail Circuit in Qatar, riders started their 2 day testing session yesterday, but the weather was awful something like what we had in Kuwait a few days back…at the first day some of the riders did not even bother to enter the track.

The uniqueness of  Losail is that its the only circuit that hosts’ a night race, which is really nice to watch… especially if you are watching it on TV where cameras zoom in at the riders and you get to see the expressions on their faces.

Hope the weather will be fine by April.

The start of the  09 World Super Bike season was full of surprises, BMW Motorrad Motorsport team scored the fastest lap in race one at  Phillip Island with their new bike the S 1000 RR.

BMW may have a long history in racing but they are rookies when to comes to the Superbike World Championship, and they will be facing tough competition from the manufacturers that has been racing the WSBK since 1988.
