MotoGP goes HD

March 31, 2010 by · 2 Comments

11 days from today we will be watching the 2010 MotoGP season in HD, the championship will be broadcasted in full HD for the first time ever.

HD has become a standard now for top level sports, and MotoGP is no exception. However, covering up to six kilometres of track, seventeen race bikes, the pit garages and helicopter shots with HD cameras has required years of planning and preparation from series organiser Dorna Sports. The biggest challenge has been the on board cameras, and Dorna together with Gigawave are working to develop these extremely sophisticated cameras.

The Following channels will be broadcasting in HD, RTL Club (Belgium), Eurosport (France), Sport TV (Portugal), Digisport (Hungary) and Viasat (Scandinavia), Speed TV (US), ESPN (Latin America), Globosat (Brazil), One HD (Australia), StarHub (Singapore), Sky (New Zealand), Al Jazeera (Middle East), ESPN Star Sports (Asia) and Supersport (Africa), and the list is growing.

I can’t wait  for 3D ;-).

The New Ducati GP10

Claudio Domenicali -general manager of Ducati Motor – talks about the new Ducati GP10 for the 2010 MotoGP  season:

“The main changes to the bike are based on the rule changes, so the major part of the work was done precisely to make it perform better using only six engines for the entire championship,” explained Domenicali. “It’s a very important difference, because we were used to using more-or-less one engine per race, so to switch from 18 engines to six is a very important adjustment. All of the main parts were redesigned – pistons, rods, crankshaft, the basics. It’s an engine with which our main objective was to minimise the loss of power to increase durability.” Read more

Stoner claims Sepang

Sepang

And Rossi claims the 2009 world title…

On the other hand i truly believe that Stoner absences from the previous races made the job very easy to the Doctor, in the last 2 races Stoner was performing like never before…it was as if he was on a bike from a different class, the gap between him and rest of the racers was huge..and no one could get close to him.

Becuase of the rain, the race today did not have much action… hope the last race of the season be much more intresting.

A classic fight

Today’s race at Phillip Island was a classic, Stoner was in top physical condition giving the spectates a show to remember with his high speed slides, Rossi was trying every trick in the book to bypass him but the Australian was too fast and maintained the lead all the way to the checker flag.

Lorenzo crashed out at turn one of the first lap after touching Nicky Hayden bike, he was lucky to escape the crash with only a small injury to his pinky.

The legend to be

With today’s win Jorge Lorenzo reduces the gap to 18 points between him and Rossi, although Rossi had some technical issues with the bike, Lorenzo gave us a great race today, Stoner was back in shap and finished second which is very good for someone that has been sick and away from the track for a while.

Lorenzo’s character and racing style is developing race by race, he still did not develop the charisma of the Doctor, but i feel he will get there and even out run him.
