Anti-slosh foam

February 7, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

As we ride our bikes the fuel level decreases and the remaining fuel starts moving inside the tank with the movement of the bike, each bump, jump, corner, acceleration and deceleration, causes the fuel to move and that movement produces some forces and these forces are then transferred to the wall of the tank and transferred throughout the bike upsetting the center of gravity which negatively affects the bike handling.
The anti-slosh foam is a special sponge-like material that goes inside the fuel tank and only reduces the tanks volume by 2-3 percent, but helps suppress explosion, absorb impact energy and control fuel sloshing.

A double for Johnny

As much as race 1 was a bore, race 2 was amusing…Rea on the Honda took the pole in both races and was fast as rocket and steady as a train.

Corser on the BMW led both races for a while but no one could find a way around Rea, it was not a good race for Ducati as Fabrizio fell in race one and Haga had a technical problem that made him quit race 2.

The Aprilia rider Leon Camier was doing well until he took a bad fall in race 2.

A friend of mine got the new BMW S1000RR for a day to test ride it, we went out around 10am Friday and enjoyed the usual Friday morning ride …then we meet up with some friends for coffee, one had a Hayabusa and the other had a GSX-R 1000, of-course the usual debate starts and we end up racing the BMW against the Hayabusa and its little brother the GSX-R1000.

The Aging Busa

A couple of my friends are hard core Hayabusa fans, they have ridden almost all kind of bikes but they swear by the Hayabusa, the other day we were having coffee at TriStar and they were asking me about my K1300R and if it really performs like a 1300cc machine..they were like: we know it has good breaks and traction -a couple of things the Haybusa lacks- but is it as fast as Busa ?

My answer was: yes it is very powerful but it can’t compete with thr Hayabusa when it comes to top end speed becuase its a naked bike and lacks the wind tunnel aerodynamics the Busa has….we had a long debate then decided to put both machines to the test, so we went to a place were we can test them, we did a couple of test runs then 2 final runs to crown a winner.
