Nothing Special !!

I have been browsing the net the past 2 days, reading all posts and news coverage of EICMA, i was also following Facebook posts by a couple of friends who are attending the exhibition but unfortunately -apart from the EICMA girls – this year exhibition had nothing special.

It’s more of a scooter exhibition than a motorcycle exhibition, most of the bikes at EICMA were either a different color version of last year models or just face lifted 2010 motorcycles.

Most of the manufacturers had a couple of scooters on display, but the chatter was mostly on BMW scooters the C 600 Sport and the C 650 GT plus concept C and concept E. Aprilia also introduced 2 new scooters, the SRV 850 and the SR Motard which comes in either 2-stroke 50cc or a 4-stroke 125cc. but the most radical designs came from Vespa.

There must be good reason for BMW to go back to the scooter market, is it the gas prices, is it the bad city traffic, or its just a trend that’s becoming a cult ?

Note: the video above is from last year as i couldn’t find any good ones of this year.

Return of the minimalist legend

I love it when a manufacturer  goes back to the old blue prints and bring to life an old great bike, the Vespa PX was born back in 1977, it was the best selling bike at Vespa and now after 34 years the PX is back with the same retro styling, a 2 stroke engine with automatic mixer that meets the strictest Euro 3 standards, a side spare wheel, a kick starter, glove compartment a four-speed gearbox that utilizes the left handle bar grip to shift between gears which should make it much more fun to ride than the automatic ones.

I should start finding a space for this one.

Ride like an Italian

BikeWorld the local dealer of Vespa, Gilera and Piagio scooters is organizing a scooter ride Friday morning, i’am not sure if they will be bringing demo scooters for people to ride or they are only organizing the ride for scooter owners, either way its nice gesture but a bit late as the weather is getting hot.

See you all on Friday 🙂 .

Aprilia RSV4R

February 4, 2010 by · 10 Comments

A couple of weeks ago i visited Bike World to check the new Guzzi models and was told that they are getting the new Aprilia RSV4R soon, yesterday i was in Shuwaikh so i decided to drop in and check if the bike has arrived, and i wasn’t disappointed..the bike was there..and apparently it just arrived today… they had both the black and white versions.

The bike has the same engine of the Factory version but without the Öhlins suspension, the forged rims, and the couple of carbon pieces, the price difference is huge and makes the RSV4R very affordable, the bike is the size of 600cc but with the 1000cc engine, it has the most aggressive looks among the one liter bikes. I was in Shuwaikh yesterday and noticed a new motorcycle showroom…i looked up to the sign and saw the following brands: Aprilia, PIAGGIO, Vespa, GILERA, and MOTO GUZZI !!!

Parked quickly.. went down to check it out and there it was…a part of Italy’s’ motorcycle history, a showroom full of Vespa scooters, Moto Guzzi, and Aprilia ..

The Vespas’ were irresistible…i don’t know how i resisted going back on one, Vespa is an icon and it doesn’t matter if you are a male or a female, young or old, a house wife or a businessman the Vespa will have your heart skip a beat…this scooter is one of the few bikes that have a style of its own and has maintained its classic and classy looks look over the years.. no visit to Italy is complete without renting a Vespa and riding it on the twisty roads of Sorrento.
