Conquering the soul !

A couple of years back when BMW launched the S1000RR no one expected that this bike will dominate the super bikes for that long, the RR is still by far the most powerful production bike on the market its even much more powerful than some 1300cc bikes. But for riders with a twin engine fetish, you’ll need much more than horse power to capture their attention, you need a bike with soul, a bike with a character, a bike with a history, a bike that makes riders reminisce.

I guess BMW doesn’t need me to tell them this, they were smart enough to figure it out them self’s. So they decided to recreate the BMW R 90 S and because they have a lot of money they didn’t bother going back to the drawing boards, they decided to ride on someones else back, someone rebellious, someone that can put some soul in the dead long dead R90S. Jap Art

Again Kawasaki keeps the good bikes for the Japan market and send us only the lousy ones, the ZRX1200 comes with 2 new color schemes this year..a Dark green with light green band, and a dark brown with light brown band.

Powering this classic a 4-stroke liquid-cooled, DOHC four-cylinder engine, with a total displacement of 1.164cc that pump 110HP at 8,000 rpm, and a 107Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, the bike weighs 246kg.

I would love to get my ass -or what’s left of it- on one of those for a Friday morning blast, but unfortunately this bike wont be going anywhere outside the Japanese market.

Retrosexual

A retrosexual is a man who spends as little time and money as possible on his appearance,  got a likes and embraces classic pop culture, chooses to live a retrolifestyle….mindset in the 80s or 90s time period.Wears retro fashion in a modern way, listens to electronica and has a passion for old video games and listens to music which can relate to the sounds of those of the 80s or 90s.

In the female case, its the  woman who eschews the sexual-revolution plank of feminism in favor of more-traditional values. ..Sexless in the City, but only ’cause she chooses to be.

The 48

I was at the Harley showroom yesterday, and i was surprised to see the new Sportster 48, i posted about the bike back in Jan when it was first launched and i fell in love with it by just looking the photos.

I was hopping i wouldn’t change my mind when i see it in person, as a lot of stuff  doesn’t look as good in real life as they do in pictures….the 48 did not disappoint me the bike looks even better than the photos with its skinny fuel tank, balloon tyres, under the handlebars mounted mirrors, shorty front mudguard, and low height single seat.

Although the bike comes in three classic paint options, they only brought the black… i really like to see the gray and the orange.

I believe Harley did a good job with the 48, and if you’re shopping for a real retro then look no further.

Return of the retro naked

2009-XJR1300

Some of the Japanese manufacturers are are going back to their old sketch books and bringing the old naked models to life, the bikes are being produced using the latest technologies and modern materials with very little changes on the original designs.

Unfortunately we don’t have a market for these retro muscle bikes’ here, i guess we lack the taste or maybe the muscles to handle these bikes.

I was in Shuwaikh yesterday and noticed a new motorcycle showroom…i looked up to the sign and saw the following brands: Aprilia, PIAGGIO, Vespa, GILERA, and MOTO GUZZI !!!

Parked quickly.. went down to check it out and there it was…a part of Italy’s’ motorcycle history, a showroom full of Vespa scooters, Moto Guzzi, and Aprilia ..

The Vespas’ were irresistible…i don’t know how i resisted going back on one, Vespa is an icon and it doesn’t matter if you are a male or a female, young or old, a house wife or a businessman the Vespa will have your heart skip a beat…this scooter is one of the few bikes that have a style of its own and has maintained its classic and classy looks look over the years.. no visit to Italy is complete without renting a Vespa and riding it on the twisty roads of Sorrento. Saw this poster, and thought i should share it…i love the Boney M, back in the days they were “Z” band -yes am that old – i love their music danced to it and still do.

Egyptian movies were the only movies that played Boney M music at the time where the Boney M were way out of fashion…we used to make fun of the people who danced to their music is these movies.

Ironically the Boney M -or what is left of them- will perform is Sharm El Sheikh end of July thru mid August.

You can book tickets from here
