Since 2008 the Suzuki Hayabusa hardly got any upgrades, most of the changes were cosmetic, come to think of it its not easy to enhance an a great bike like the Hayabusa. For the 2013 model, Suzuki decided to make the Hatabusa a safer bike by upgrading its break system to ABS and replacing the front calipers with high performance Brembo mono block calipers.

The bike also got a new Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) that enable the rider to choose from 3 different engine maps on the fly directly from the handle bar. The bike still lack  traction control which leaves the reader fully recpocible for his actions.

Suzuki has officially confirmed that it won’t particpating in the MotoGP for the next two years. but they will be back in 2014 with a 1000cc motorcycle. In a press release Suzuki stated :

“ This suspension is to cope with tough circumstances mainly caused by the prolonged recession in developed countries, a historical depreciation of Japanese Yen and repeated natural disasters. Having an eye to returning to MotoGP in 2014, Suzuki will now focus on developing a competitive new racing machine for that class. Suzuki will continue motocross racing activity and support of road racing activities using mass-produced motorcycles, by obtaining FIM homologation and co-operation with the supplier of its development racing kit parts.”

The financial problems and natural disasters Japan has been facing took its toll on Suzuki and other Japanese manufacturers, there was no significant changes in GSX-R line for almost the past 2-3 years ! Where as the European manufacturers -BMW & Ducati- has been very active with the development of new bikes.

Haslam triumph in Kyalami

In Race one Fabrizio on the Ducati took an early lead and was having fun and kept us amused with his slides in and out of corners, it was like watching a stunt rider performing high speed stunts.

Although Fabrizio won race one of the Kyalami round, but the real worrier was Haslam on the Suzuki…he was the star of race one and two, battling against the rookies -Rea- and the geezers -Biaggi- he manged to snatch race two from Rea at the last lap, it was a prertty intense fight.

Manufacturers standings : SUZUKI 222,  APRILIA 213, DUCATI 185.
