Its official, we have a new member in the Monster family, the 796 Monster….it has the same 803cc engine of the 2010 Hypermotard 796 and its called the Desmodue.

The Desmodue or the Desmo 2 in English is a completely brand new lightweight engine designed to provide the torquey, smooth and enjoyable character of  the L-Twins.

I always thought that the 696 is under powered and the 1100 is overpowered, but now i believe Ducati got the recipe just right with the 796, the bike comes in 13 different color schemes and optional ABS.

Complete specs.

Haga shares Valencia with the Suzuki rider Leon Haslam, Biaggi was the fastest…he pushed the Aprila to its limit, but it seams it  was not enough to win the race, and lost it to Haga in race two.

The dude is fast, and conspiracy theorists say: Losail circuit was built for the Ducati !!
Analyzing riders performance on different parts of the circuit one will find that Rossi was faster on the twisty parts of the circut, whereas Stoner was faster on the sectors that had more straights.
We just have to wait and see how the riders will perform when they face each other at 11pm 7:30pm today -Jazeera Sport 2-.

Hyperpro suspension upgrade kit

I never liked the suspension on my Ducati Sport Classic and always thought its just too stiff… am not saying its not good, its just not good enough. It doesn’t give enough feel of the road, and since upgrading to Öhlins was way too expensive i decided to only replace forks internals, and the rear spring with Hyperpro combo kit.

Hyperpro is a Dutch company and one of the leading producers of motorcycle progressive suspension products, they are mostly famous for steering dampers, but they also produce complete shocks, front fork springs and height adjustment kits for alot of bikes. Progressive springs reduces the braking distance by 15 to 20 percent in comparison to a bike with linear springs, small bumps and irregularities in the road surface get absorbed immediately while large bumps or holes are intercepted by the more rigide part of the spring, this results in a bike that is faster on the circuit and safer on the highway.

It took almost 2 month for the kit to reach my Aramex box, and when it finally did Aramex refused shipping it because it had a bottle of suspension oil they also refused to trash the oil and ship only the springs, the only solution was to send the kit back to the supplier and ask him to ship it back without the oil.

Anyway the kit in now mounted on the bike, and it was worth the wait.. the bike feels like a totally different bike, the feedback from the suspension is so damn good.

I have always believed that one doesn’t need Öhlins suspension on the bike unless one is doing track days, but after this upgrade i guess i was wrong.

The 796 Hypermotard is almost a clone of the its big brother the 1100, but KG5 lighter… the nice thing about the 800cc engine is that it revs a bit more than the 1100cc, and the power is easier to control while trick riding.

Both the 796 and 1100 are available at TriStar.

The Frameless Motorcycle

Ducati applied for the patent for a frameless motorcycle, the motorcycle front and back end will be bolted directly onto the engine !!!

This is what Ducati says about the new concept:

“A motorcycle comprising a propelling group or engine, a saddle support, a support for the rear wheel, and a front directional group comprising a handlebar integral to a steering headstock functionally associated to a supporting organ of the vehicle front wheel, wherein such front group is connected to a box-like body incorporating the function of filtering box, constrained to the engine and apt to support the latter by connecting it, therethrough, to said front directional group, said support for the rear wheel and said saddle support being constrained to the engine, the vehicle being not equipped with additional members apt to constrain said engine to such front directional group.”

I guess soon we’ll be sitting on engine heads…mmm, i wonder what are the side effects on male fertility.
