Egypt Visit -the round up-
Filed under: Clubs, Coffee, Egypt, Food, Nature, Night Life, Restaurants, Reviews, Travel, Water Sports
Cairo,
Make sure you stay at a 10 Stars hotel –Sofitel El Gezirah is good-, you don’t need to spend more than 2 days there…the morning of the first day you visit the pyramids and museum in the afternoon you find a good restaurant and have lunch -grilledfried sea food is your safest bet, then go back to the hotel for a siesta.
In the evening you could take a Nile tour -hotels have the best ones- at night around 1 am find a good night club to watch belly dancing because you didn’t visit Cairo if don’t do a belly dance night.. at 7am you leave the night club back to hotel have breakfast and sleep.
Night clubs: Samire Amis Intercontinental and a couple at Haram St.
Restaurants: Abu El Seed, and Nile City.
Coffee: On The Go at any gas station, Bottled Water: Nestle
Don’t ask taxi drivers or waiters for recommendations, only ask the concierge or do some googling. Read more
I guess it’s contagious !
واركب الحنتور…واتحنتر
Cairo is very crowded and the traffic is awful, there is nothing to do in the morning other than visiting the Pyramids or the museum and this is what we did on Friday.
The best thing to do is to rent a Karta -Hantour- and the guide will show you everything and recite the history of the Pyramids-he can do it in 6 languages-, then he’ll take you to a perfume shop..don’t let them lure to any of that.. don’t even go in.
Running on Caffeine
Saturday 6:30pm,
I woke up Friday 11am to visit the Pyramids and Cairo Museum -a post about the visit will follow- and am still up since then..around 31 hours so far, we had a small incident….we left Cairo Saturday 4am heading to Ras Sider and half way one of the cars flipped over and 2 guys got injured, so we headed back to Cairo..that’s after the police paper work and first aiding the injured-a broken arm and a pretty good scare-.
The meeting at Ras Sider was supposed to be our last business meeting before flying to Sharm El Shaikh, anyway the dude needs to rest a couple of days and do some proper checkups at a proper hospital in Cairo before we can meet again and finalize what we came here for, so its no use waiting in Cairo…we are on the way to the airport hoping to find a fly to Sharm.
Update: i ended this and went to bed Sunday 5am, my total up time was 42 hours..not bad..i could have completed the 48 but i couldn’t find anything interesting.
Am here
If you are into sand surfing and visiting Cairo then Cairo dunes is for you, not very high…but they are Ok, you will need to take a lot of water, food, and everything you might need because civilization is 2 hours drive from there.
Working hard
The past 3 days were very hectic, waking up at 6am…commuting for 2 hours working tell 7pm then commuting back 3 hours -bad traffic-, tomorrow is an off day so i’ll be going out today don’t know where yet but i will not sleep…will probably sleep tomorrow by the pool.
Oh.. and that guy in the photo got a bit over excited..

The internet at the hotel is lousy and very expensive -3 KDhr- and advertising for the 3.6 HSDPA USB stick is here, there and everywhere, so we decided to get it… hailed a cab and asked him to take us to the nearest Vodafone branch…walked-in and asked for 2 devices on a prepaid plan..we were asked for ID thats when they found out that we are tourists and not residents and was turned down, the cab was still waiting for us outside to take us back to the hotel and he asked why we came back empty handed.. we told him..he asked if they would accept his ID we said we could try, so we went back in again he presented his ID and got us 2 devices.
The thing cost KD20, 10 for the device and another 10 for the unlimited plan!!!
Abo el Seed
I was told not to eat and not to drink but i did…we had dinner yesterday at a place called Abo El Seed, its a cosy restaurant in the Zamalek area, they serve local cuisine -i did not know they had anything other than El Fool-.
The food was good, and what’s even better is that 24 hours has passed with no side effects, we had some local starters then a couple of Tagine dishes and finally Fetair Mishlitet.
